Next week on Tuesday, the year 6’s get something special. What is it? Camp. We will be going to Kawau Island, by ferry. We start from Sandspit.
There will be lots of activities that we will be doing there. We’ll do the Burma trail, kayaking, orienteering, fitness trail, and sailing.
I’m looking most forward to the orienteering. Ever since I first tried it, I’ve been real good. It’s like my #1 favourite sport. So I’m really excited.
Here are some photos of Kawau island.

The water going shallower meant one thing: the volcano caused a tsunami. “Seeing that there’s no point in arguing, how about we get out of here?” I asked. Since Vaifoa did this kind of training, I knew he could spout some mumbo jumbo and tell where to go.
“Well, seeing that the water is shallower there, it means that land’s that way.” Vaifoa answered.
“Let’s go!” I yelled joyfully.
“Best not to.”
“At this rate, by the time we get there, the tsunami will strike. Best to stay and go through a swell.”
“Wait. What about the people on land?”
“Who cares? They almost killed us by stranding you on this island. We already lost one life.”
“So? That was because some idiot was using WiFi on the pl--” I saw a massive swell in the distance. My heart was pounding. Any faster and it might stop. “Are you SURE that we’re safe here?” I asked, unassuringly. In fact, Vaifoa was right. Kinda. The swell started to turn into a wave, and we were riding on it.
“Haven’t I seen this on Phineas And Ferb?” Vaifoa asked. His face had a wandering expression. “This is unorthodox...” I awkwardly said to Vaifoa. “Riding a tsunami... we’re doomed, aren’t we?”
“Probably.” The wave got bigger and bigger. “I don’t feel well...” Vaifoa informed me. It was a good thing too. By that time I noticed a zombie underneath the boat. Vaifoa spewed all over the zombie. “Ew.” I thought.
The shore was getting closer. I remembered something. When Lee died, I picked up his phone from his pocket. I phoned lots of people, and told them about what was happening. Word got around, and soon enough, the whole town was evacuated.
Just in time, too. The tsunami had struck. I looked ahead. A little girl. “Shoot...” I said scaredly. I moved to the tip of the boat. I grabbed her. I looked at her. She looked at Vaifoa. Vaifoa looked at the zombie with spew on it. The zombie looked at me. We all screamed in terror.
The zombie climbed on the boat. I threw the girl at the zombie. “RUN!!” Me and Vaifoa grabbed onto a building by the open windowsill. The boat broke. Leaving Vaifoa and I hanging. We managed to climb inside.
24 days later, the water started to settle. Everyone was glad that they made it out alive. Which is a little more than what I can say for the zombie and girl. People treated us like we were Superman or something.
A few days later, we got invited to a ferry ride to ‘The World Of The Unknown’. I looked on the map, and it turned out it was going to the island we were on. So Vaifoa got us a helicopter just in case.
When we got there, Vaifoa got mad. “I thought that they were gonna show us the island we were on! Not a volcanic island!”
“This is the place. The last time we saw it, it was in the beginning of a volcanic eruption, remember?” Vaifoa didn’t answer. He was too busy looking at the cave. His face had a worried expression. I looked at the cave. There was a zombie running out. It jumped, grabbed ahold of the bow, and climbed up.
Everybody panicked. “Calm down!” I yelled. “Don’t wo--” The zombie ran at me. It looked like the zombie which was burning in the sun. I guess it managed to roll into the cave. “NINJA KICK!!! Vaifoa shouted. He kicked the zombie high in the air. When it came lower, it sung forwards into the steering area. It bit the staff. Then they bit the passengers. It was just Vaifoa and I.
“What do we do now Viffl?” I asked.
“Your new nickname. WHAT DO WE DO?!”
“Call me by my REAL name.” Immediately Vaifoa pulled out his phone. He called the helicopter. The chopper came right in the nick of time. We flew up, and away. In the distance I saw the island that we were once stranded on. As the sun started to fade away, it made the island look way more beautiful.
Disaster struck. The helicopter had a zombie hanging on. It was about to strike. I reached into Vaifoa’s pocket, took out his cellphone, and threw it on the zombie. It fell to it’s death. “Phew!” I gasped in relief. Soon after, we landed. Vaifoa and I both promised to never go near that island ever again.
So I guess this the end of my story. We lost a life, trying to get home, but that kinda saved millions of lives.
So, I guess, I have to say, goodbye!

I was running over to Mom's room. Why? When I woke up in the middle of the night, I heard a whisper. I searched my room. No one was there. I decided to ask Mariam. She wasn’t there. Things have been pretty weird since Mitch and I experienced PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. But this wasn’t a time to be looking back. I had to go tell Mom NOW.
“What did the ‘whisper’ say?” Mom asked.
“It said that I have 24 hours to move or else we’ll all die. 24 HOURS MOM! 24 HOURS! What’re we gonna do?”
“Go back to sleep.” Seeing that Mom wasn’t going to help me, I had to take matters into my own hands. But I still needed help. When the light was coming through the curtains and onto my face, I got up. there was no time to waste.
I ran over to Mitch’s house. But it turned out he wasn’t there. “Damn, now I have to find Rory.” I thought. Rory isn’t that easy to find. So I decided to head back home. On the way, I saw a poster next to a sign about the prices of houses going 30x. “THE WORLD WILL BE DESTROYED. IF WE DO NOT GET RID OF THE POOR PEOPLE, THEN EVERYONE WILL DIE.” “Harsh.” I thought.
That’s when it hit me. “My family isn’t poor.”I said. “We’re the average type. So why was the whisper telling us to--” I think I knew what was happening. Houses cost 30x extra now. My family couldn’t afford any of that. So they or whatever was trying to get us to sell our house, get us to live on the street, so then we would die.
I was running home. Mom and Dad might sell the house before I get there. And the second they do, we’re dead. I pulled out my Iphone 5, and tried to call them. I had no AirTime. BANG! I crashed into what looked like a U.F.O. I looked inside. There was Rory.
I told Rory everything.
“..So I need you to fly me over.”
“Okay, get in. I just threw Notch and his friend ‘Bardock’ off into the mountains.”
“That’s harsh, man.” I said, climbing in.
“Hey! They told me that they like near death experiences-”
“Less talking, more flying!” The U.F.O sped off. But not that fast. We flew at 90mph. “Can’t this thing go any faster?” “Yes,” Rory answered. He smashed light speed. I really regret asking for faster, because my face was pulling back like in those movies where they go fast.
“C-A-N Y-O-U G-O S-L-O-W-E-R?” I asked. Rory came to a sudden stop. He stopped the thing right on the spot. But I kept moving. I crashed right through the window. “Aaaahh!!” I screamed, falling. Rory laughed. “You should’ve worn your seatbel-” “Shut up!” I interrupted. I banged through the door. Mom was about to sell the house. “Noooooooo!” I said, jumping slow-mo in mid air. I knocked the contract out of Mom’s hand. I then told her about what was happening.
Mom thought for a while. “Okay, then what was the whisper?” She asked. I paused for a while. I heard a giggle. It came from underneath me. “I think I know where to go.” I answered. Mom and I walked down into the basement. Mom turned on the light, and then we saw--
My sister and her friends. “April Fools!” Mariam shouted. I had completely forgotten about that. While Mom dealt with Mariam, I went up and informed the guy who was gonna sell our house that we weren't going to do that. So he left.
As a walked outside to say good riddance to the salesman, I saw Rory looking at me, cross. “Are you gonna pay me for that ride?” I stood there. After awhile I threw my Iphone at Rory. I hit him right in the forehead. "Owww..." Rory mumbled with tears in his eyes.
“April Fools!” I shouted.

Actually, we weren’t. A rock from the volcano flew and broke the wave, so we still went on. Soon after, I saw in the distance land. I looked closer. An airport.
It was the airport me and Lee took off from. I thought of going there and chewing out the staff about leaving me and Lee deserted on an island. But there were other problems to solve first.
There was a huge wind that was sending me and Vaifoa away from the beach.
“NO!” Vaifoa yelled.
“We were so close!”
“I want to die happy!”
“Is there anything we can do!?” I looked at the oars.
“We could use these.”
“OF COURSE!” shouted Vaifoa. We both paddled towards the island, but the oars broke.
We had one more hope. To swim.
The sun was starting to break through the dark lumps of ash up above. Smaller waves started to appear.
“C’mon Vaifoa! We have to get there!” I shouted desperately. When I turned around, I saw Vaifoa listening to Bad Apple on the piano.
“IS THIS REALLY A TIME TO BE LISTENING TO MUSIC!?” I screamed angrily at Vaifoa.
“Yes. You should listen to this.” I floated over.
“Mmm. Yeah, I see what you mean now.”
Out of the clearing up sky, a rock from the volcano smashed right through the Ipad Mini. That did it for Vaifoa. Tears were pouring out of his eyes.
He was screaming like a little spoiled girl who got dirty. “WAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!” he screeched. I couldn’t stand any more of this.
“SHUT...UP!!!!" I screamed. "Not only have you been wasting our time, but now you’ve wasted so much time! We could’ve been home by now!” I turned around.
There was no more sight of an island. We wasted so much time that the current pulled us away. “I.. I... I c-can’t take anymore o-of this!” Vaifoa screamed. I jumped into the water. “You coming?” I asked sarcastically. “Thanks for asking, no.” Vaifoa answered. “Why?” I asked. Before Vaifoa could answer, the water got shallower. “Uh oh.” I said.
